In the Al Shindagha area near the end of Dubai Creek, you'll find one of the oldest buidlings in the city and a piece of Dubai's history: the official residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai (1912-1958) and grandfather of the present Ruler, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This is where the vision of Dubai was first dreamed. It's where our current ruler played in the yard as a young boy. Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum's house is located along the Creek where life in Dubai first began. Constructed in 1896, the house has been transformed into a museum featuring a fascinating collection of historic photographs, coins, stamps, and documents that record Dubai's history. While the naturally cooling wind towers offer a glimpse of traditional architecture and a window into Dubai's past. The sweeping views of the Dubai skyline found on the top floor give the entire experience a travelling-through-time feeling.
